Canada PR

Permanent Residence (PR) is the process of becoming a resident of Canada.

A permanent resident is someone who has been given permanent resident status by immigrating to Canada, but is not a Canadian citizen

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR PERMANENT RESIDENCE

1. AGE – You must be at least 18 years old to apply Canada PR

2. LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY TEST – English and French are the two official languages of Canada.

One needs to provide Language proficiency test result from an approved language testing agency, such as, IELTS for English proficiency and DELF/DALF for French

3. EDUCATIONAL CREDENTIAL ASSESSMENT (ECA) – You must be at least graduate to apply Permanent Residency in Canada from approved authority, such as WES, so that IRCC can verify your qualification obtained from outside Canada.

4. WORK EXPERIENCE – To apply Canada PR, you must have at least 1 year of work experience

SOURCES OF PR

  1. Express Entry Program – Canadian Immigration Program that allows immigrants to live and work in Canada as a skilled worker through Express EntryDuration : Approx  8 months

  2. PNP – This program is for workers who have the skills, education and work experience to contribute to the economy of a specific province or territoryDuration : 10-12 months

  3. Study Visa – Any student, who is going to study in Canada more than 6 month must to get a study permit from CIC Processing time may take upto 90 days

  4. Post Graduate Work Permit – One can apply for 2/3 years  Post Graduation Work Permit after Graduation

  5. Business Visa – Both the federal and provincial/territorial governments welcome business immigrants  to start a business and settle in Canada

  6. Tourist Visa – Gives you the ability to visit Canada for a period of up to 6 months

  7. Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program (AIPP) –  The AIPP is a new venture that involves the provinces of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland and Labrador.  The Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program (AIPP)has unique eligibility requirements that may be particularly attractive to certain workers and graduates. For example, eligible international students and graduates may note that no work experience is required before an application may be submitted

  8. Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) –  AINP is an economic immigration program that nominates people for permanent residence in AlbertaIf you are nominated through the program, you may apply for permanent residence status together with your spouse or common-law partner, and dependent children.

NOTE: The AINP continues to accept and process applications and Expressions of Interest (EOIs), with temporary adjustments to some application and assessment processes

Benefits of PR in Canada

  1. Freedom to Work & Live Anywhere -You will have the legal right to live and work anywhere in the country. Permanent residents aren’t tied to a specific employer or a specific province

  2. Accessibility to Universal Healthcare -All permanent residents have access to Canada’s healthcare and social services. Canadian healthcare is universal, this means that you will have access to free medical care!

  3. Canadian Citizenship -Becoming a permanent resident is the first step to becoming a  Canadian citizen. Once you’ve resided in Canada for three out of five years, you’ll be eligible to become a citizen!

  4. Sponsorship -Once you are a permanent resident, you can  apply to sponsor your spouse, common-law partner, and dependent children to join you in Canada. That said, if you immigrate through Express Entry, you can include your family on your initial application so you won’t have to sponsor them later on
